On the morning of September 11, 2025, Mr. Zhao Weidong, Secretary-General of the Global Alliance for Trade in Services (hereinafter referred to as “GATIS”), met with the delegation led by Bernardo Peixoto, President of the Federation of Commerce of Goods, Services, and Tourism of the State of Pernambuco, Brazil during the China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS).
At the meeting, Secretary-General Zhao Weidong extended a warm welcome to the Brazilian delegation and outlined four key areas of cooperation. First, he expressed GATIS’s willingness to collaborate with the Brazilian side in establishing a platform for exchanges and cooperation, aimed at facilitating knowledge sharing and business matchmaking in the field of international trade in services, thereby achieving tangible outcomes. Second, he extended an invitation to Brazilian enterprises and business associations to join GATIS. Third, he invited the Brazilian delegation to participate in GATIS’s upcoming promotional and exchange event, scheduled to take place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in mid-November, with the objective of deepening mutual understanding. Fourth, he extended a further invitation for Brazilian participation in GATIS’s 2026 forum and exhibition, to sustain and enhance bilateral cooperation. Representatives from the Foreign Trade Operation Division and the Foreign Economic Cooperation Division of the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Commerce provided an overview of the current state of economic and trade cooperation between Beijing and Brazil, and expressed the hope that future collaboration would be further expanded and deepened.
President Bernardo Peixoto welcomed the initiative of GATIS to host promotional and exchange event in Brazil and expressed a strong willingness to enhance cooperation and exchanges with both the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Commerce and GATIS within the economic and trade sectors. Additionally, over 60 members of the Brazilian delegation toured the GATIS image exhibition area, where eight Brazilian enterprises delivered promotional presentations.
The meeting was also attended by the President of the Federation of Industries of the State of Pernambuco, Brazil, the Mayor of Vitória da Conquista, the Mayor of Jaboatão dos Guararapes, relevant heads from the Brazilian Micro and Small Business Support Service (SEBRAE), the Social Service of Commerce, and the Skill Learning Service Bureau of Pernambuco State, and relevant heads from the Social Organization Department of Daxing District, Beijing and GATIS. During which, they exchanged views accordingly.
