On August 28, 2026, the Global Alliance for Trade in Services (hereinafter referred to as “GATIS”) held a Symposium on the Preparatory Work for Establishing the Standardization Committee of the GATIS and the Solicitation of Cases on Standardization of Trade in Services in China in a hybrid online and offline format. The symposium briefed participants on the progress in the preparatory work for establishment of the Standardization Committee, heard comments and suggestions from all parties concerning the formation of the Standardization Committee and the solicitation of cases on standardization of trade in services, and set out priorities for follow-up work. It laid a solid foundation for pooling wisdom, gathering resources, and cementing the development foundation of the Standardization Committee of the GATIS.

Zhao Weidong, Secretary-General of the GATIS, attended the symposium. More than 30 participants, including experts in the domain of standardization, as well as representatives from enterprises and industry organizations, took part in the symposium both online and offline.
